Bear

Grandma Curtains again. This is traced from the doiley set I bought from 'The Stitchery'. Damn! I meant to ring them today and order everything I don't have in the cute animal section.
If you imagine this as the centre doiley and these as the side doileys (although one would be facing the other way).
I may outline the blue of the eyes, with black. Or at least see if it's right.
It's quite big...probably 40cm? 38cm across?

More Work On The Sewing Room Curtains

A huck-a-bac bib from 'The Stitchery'. I've had these far a couple of years and NOW is the time!! They take no time at all to work up and are loads of fun for one and all! My intention is to buy all of the cute designs before they go retire and out of business. I've sone a large ont too but haven't photographed it yet.
Dunno if I'll crochet around the edges or just sew it in like this?
We're all down with the BUG. I had a flu injection and got it lildly but Ross is sick! Poor love, he needs Lots of TLC.
Lots. In fact he just said, "Where are you?" in a poor little voice.

It's Just Me Again

My brother Glenn Stuart, myself in the middle admiring something, and Sheryl Bailey, my Mum's childhood friend's daughter. Surrogate cousin.

This is my Nanna (great-grandmother Lucy Ellen), my Grandma (Phyllis Lucy), my Mum (Judith Ann) and myself, Robyne Fiona. Nanna and I shared a birthday, also with my father's Dad (Gramps). At Grandma's house in Moonee Ponds, where I later lived to go to Melbourne College of Textiles.

Now All I Want To Do Is Make Some Potholders

I scribbled this after looking at some of doublewinky's stuff. I thought it would be suitably done ala Penny-Rug-ish? Old blankets and bits of felt? Coarse embroidery. They're supposed to be a bit scorched and grubby so I have to be sensible.
I might have to start a new Flickr group.... s'pose I should see if there's one already.
If you see or have any goodies, send me a link or a pic??? I'm on a mission. It's making me stitch and stitch the curtains without fail, because (unlike my usual behaviour, where I work on anything I want to) I will not do any pot-holders until they're finished.
Why didn't I think of them before?
P.S. If anyone makes this one, send us a pic too huh?

I Need To Make Some Potholders

And today, sick at home and feeling fuggy at the computer... surfing from link to link in Flickr, I have found a few. I might try to do a mozaic??? Or just put some pics and links...

These two from a particular favourite of mine, doublewinky.

Made by bbmarie. This one has a tutorial. Fun for the kiddies.

By Ross McLeod

Just scanned, so it's a bit shiny and hard to see, but you get the drift. Circa don't know, but before we were together, maybe just, and that's over 9 years...

Me & Stevie Park

I always thought he was nice. Last time I saw him was when I was about 10.

It Looks Better With The Edging

I had a go at crochet, but couldn't get it right.... due to an extensive lack of knowledge and experience with the method. Detached Buttonhole is more up my alley. You can see that the design is intended to have such a framing. Much better!! I'm happy.
Broder had ceased as part of DMC's product range apparently. It's such a shame. It has a quality all its own and has been around for ever and ever. It's particularly good for Satin stitch type work.

Doiley

I traced if to add into the curtains (sorry, you must be sick of hearing about them). Mum did the cross-stitch when she was a teenager as the centre part of a tablecloth that was never hemmed. The doiley is from 'The Stitchery' (Cedarwood Drive, Cherrybrook, NSW 2126, 0 2 9875 2264). I've obviously traced it. They have a stack of fantastic kiddie designs and I have a few and will buy more before they go into oblivion (which is what they expect to do as there is no-one to take over the business and the technology is a bit obsolete).
I'll crochet or do Detached Buttonhole around the edge as it would be done for a doiley...

We Went Camping Again

And just between us, all I really wanted to do was stitch my curtains and play house. We were both... not grumpy... but not relaxed and grooving to the tune. However we did go to a bric-a-brac place just out of Geelong and I found this biscuit barrel! Now we have three of that particular stlye! I've seen others, but not nice enough (just want you to know that I'm not a mad collector, willy-nilly).
My blossy took me to Point Cook to see the boathouses. They're amazing and beautiful and moving! What a nice day it proved to be, even if the curtains called me.

My Daughters...

Or, the absence of them. Taken by my Claire.

I ordered a Sundress (lemon with duck) and a Pink Playsuit (with duck) from here. They are so quick and easy to do and I'm in love.

Then I found this.

Years Ago I Was Gonna Get This Carved Into My Skin In Ink

But I changed my mind. Phew! It would have looked like a blob around my arm. Imagine Bingo Wings with trees all the way around.
It says:
'Awake O north wind; and come, thou South; blow upon my garden, that the spices therof may flow out.
Let my beloved come into his garden, and eat its choice fruits.'
...only in Welsh, which is such a pretty language. Then I decided that... well, it was all about being there just for a fella huh?? And if you have a tattoo around your arm you're stuck with it. I think it's wise to get any design done in Henna or ink just so you live with it for a month or two and see if the novelty wears off. Only my opinion.
Anyway, I always planned to do an embroidery of a treeline like this, without the decorative stylised base. Still might one day??? Probably not. Damn! I missed my moment.

I Bought This Off Etsy

From Tigerluxe. She sent it right away and put a little present in (a tiny paint box set) which made me even happier. Lambie is a beautiful, larger than she looks. It's about 25cm long.
Happy Lamb La!. I've got three lambs now.
Thing is though, I signed up to Etsy to sell stuff! It happens (to me) all the time. I have sold one thing (a pattern that I then emailed as a PDF file which is a very modern thing to do) but it doesn't cover the cost of Lamb.
I showed my fella and I explained that it was an accident... I just went 'CLICK!' and it was done and he said Good on You! It had to be. Which is true and it wouldn't have mattered to me if he wasn't impressed but it's nice that he said that. Might because he's so incredibly SPENDY!!!

I'm Tuesday And So Is The Luvvy Dove

And a few other's besides. Grandma is Friday so I'll have to do that and then there's Mum...
It was hard to choose the colours. I'm onto another now... I need something to do at work in the down times. These curtains are going to have to be in the will. I think Sadie can inherit them, but we'll have to see. Of course if I die first then Ross can keep them so long as he knows who comes next. It's very complicated when you've both got kids (each) and what if I die now and he's old and he's lost touch with my lot in 30 years when he does?? What then huh?

Cheep Cheep From Spotters

Only $4 or was it $3? Thought I'd do a few of the old:

Monday's child is fair of face.
Tuesday's child is full of grace.
Wednesday's child is full of woe.
Thursday's child has far to go.
Friday's child is loving and giving.
Saturday's child works hard for a living,
But the child who is born on the Sabbath day,
Is bonny and blithe and good and gay.

If you go over here to Kakorama, you'll be able to find your own or your Grandma's day. You've gotta love that bloke, too, and his dancing ways.

Just Set Up My Etsy Shop

Over here...

Even though you've probably seen most or all of it... there'll be more! Look out for impending period of rampant productivity.

Abundant rampant, in fact.

Manic rapacity? Rampanties?
